The New Orleans power trio Zebra delivered a masterful performance at Fort Lauderdale's Parker venue last night, proving that four decades haven't dulled their progressive rock edge. The band's thunderous 21-song set celebrated their 1983 self-titled debut album while showcasing their full discography.

Randy Jackson's otherworldly vocals soared through classics like "Who's Behind the Door" and "Tell Me What You Want," while his guitar work remained as intricate and fierce as ever. The rhythm section of Felix Hanemann and Guy Gelso provided the muscular foundation that's been Zebra's hallmark since their earliest days.

An ambitious cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," prefaced with a delicate "Tangerine" proved to be a high point of the evening. The extended jam during "The La La Song," complete with Gelso's explosive drum solo, proved these veterans can still throw down with raw intensity.

For longtime fans, deep cuts like "Bears" and "Arabian Nights" were welcome surprises, while radio hits "Take Your Fingers From My Hair" and "Wait Until the Summer's Gone" had the crowd on their feet. As Zebra closed out this milestone show, it was clear their legacy in American progressive rock remains untouchable.
