UB40 brought their signature reggae-pop fusion to the Pompano Beach Amphitheater on August 9, delighting fans with a mix of classics and newer material. The open-air venue provided an ideal backdrop for the band's laid-back Caribbean vibes.
The current lineup, led by founding member Robin Campbell, delivered tight harmonies and infectious rhythms that had the crowd swaying throughout the set.
Standout moments included a rousing rendition of "Kingston Town" and an extended jam on "(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You." While the absence of original lead singer Ali Campbell was felt by some long-time fans, the band's energy and musicianship demonstrated they can still captivate an audience and the group is still a fine glass of "Red Red Wine."
The balmy Florida night perfectly complemented UB40's sun-soaked sound, making for a memorable summer concert experience.
