Symphony of the Americas Unwraps Holiday POPS With Luke Frazier

By Joanie Cox-Henry

Get ready for a musical celebration that breaks the mold of traditional symphonic performances. Luke Frazier, the new Principal Pops Conductor, is reimagining the concert experience with a fresh, dynamic approach perfect for our modern, fast-paced world. Holiday Pops hits Broward Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 8-10.

Drawing from his love of classic holiday music, Frazier curates a program that spans from Nat King Cole to more contemporary sounds, offering a delightful blend of nostalgia and innovation. "I’m a person who loves classic songs," Frazier shares. "I love finding things to conduct that audiences will connect to. So many of us spend so much time on our phones, and the traditional symphonic model of watching long pieces can feel disconnected. I thought, 'why don't we make it a multi-dimensional show with lots of great music?'"

This vision comes to life in a carefully crafted 90-minute concert that promises to engage, entertain, and uplift. It's not just a performance—it's an experience designed to connect with audiences meaningfully.

The concert features an extraordinary lineup, including Grammy Award winner Sydney James Harcourt, an original Broadway HAMILTON cast member, Hilary Morrow, the comedy sensation from The Second City, and Maureen McKay, the internationally acclaimed Metropolitan Opera star.

Frazier's approach to music is deeply personal and intentional. He has worked with everyone from Patti LaBelle to Renée Fleming, to Kristin Chenoweth. His musical journey began early, rooted in elementary school music classes and church performances where he was a piano player. Now, he brings that same passion to the Symphony of the Americas, promising a show that's "different" and "meaningful."

A Concert Like No Other

Frazier also wants to emphasize that this isn't your typical holiday concert. "Every new arrangement is a premiere," Frazier explains. "You'll never be able to find these versions on YouTube because they're brand new."

Expect surprises like a special Whitney Houston tribute, a sassy "Santa Baby," and even an Ave Maria that will leave you breathless.

The show culminates in a sing-along that embodies Frazier's core belief that music is the true catalyst for joy to unite us all at holiday time and all year long.

"I feel like there's so much going on in the world where people are feeling low, and this is a moment to feel good about those around you," he adds.
