Stephen Pearcy of Ratt rolled into town "A Wanted Man" Saturday evening at The Casino at Dania Beach as evidenced by the nostalgia mob eagerly awaiting his arrival on Stage 954. I surveyed the "Scene of The Crime" and he let me "Lay It Down" for you. If "You're In Love" with 80s rock, metal fashion, and a trip down memory lane, you'll be "Back for More" concerts of the same at this venue.
As far as lead singers go, Pearcy has still got plenty of swagger with his distinctive scowling voice, and a "Way Cool Jr." presence. It was a welcome blast from the past, even giving a shout-out to Robin Crosby, Tawny Kitaen, and South Florida, referencing the group's earlier years. The audience was engaged and standing on their feet for the entire set list as they performed Ratt's classic 80s album Out of the Cellar in its entirety. He had a "Slip of the Lip," forgetting the lyrics a few times, even joking about it, but received mercy since there was no "Lack of Communication" between the dueling guitars and dominating drums. Songs blaring "In Your Direction," with power and might.
"You Think You're Tough" while listening, singing, and dancing along with the high decibel repertoire of one hit song after the other. "You're in Trouble" if you think "Back to the Cellar" was anything but a great time of rock and roll.
As I write this review, "The Morning After," in retrospect, "I'm Insane" for going "Round And Round" about whether to purchase a ticket to witness Stephen Pearcy with an entourage other than the remaining members of Ratt. I debated myself in the third person with "She's got Money," and "Nobody Rides for Free," and concluded with not being able to pass up the opportunity to hear all the music I love from Ratt.
The current lineup consisting of Blas Elias (Slaughter), Erik Ferentinos, Johnny Monaco (LA Guns) and Matt Thorne (Rough Cutt), had me singing a familiar tune as far as the value of this ticket. Stephen Pearcy and these accompanying players are all fierce and talented, and this event was like stepping back in time, which to me is priceless.
