On Friday, February 2nd Morgxn celebrated his first of three album release parties with a full band performance at The East Room in Nashville, Tennessee. South Florida Concert News traveled to cover the event.
Donning a fun pastel pink rainbow holo jacket and matching boots, Morgxn opened the show walking through the crowd of friends, family, and fans singing Beacon's title track to a sold-out room.
Throughout the artist's set, he graciously thanked us for traveling from far and near to support him. He announced he would be performing the new album in its entirety.
A spirited "Young and in Love" was followed by a dedication to his partner Gabe, transitioning into a sweet song about vulnerability in relationships called "What We Could Be."
Introducing "Modern Man," the singer noted that he grew up with the idea of being a man as something "stoic, something this sensitive Pisces is not, as you can tell."
His backing band consisted of longtime collaborator Mark McKee, Jon Truman on drums, Sarina Joi on guitar, and Carmen Dianne on bass; the two women doubling as a powerful harmony vocal section. After an opportunity to showcase their talents, Morgxn quipped: "This is what happens when you step back and let women take the lead. It's not that hard."
"My Revival" was met with cheering and shouting the lyrics of this empowering track.
After finishing the album set, Morgxn went on to discuss how covid lockdown had impacted his music and the ability to share it. Purely through the support of fans, "Wonder" became a success independent of major label support.
A rendition of 2018's anthemic ballad "Home" was enthusiastically received by the packed room, singing to every word and clapping on beat.
When we shouted for one more song, the audience was treated to a dazzling a capella version of "Pretend Rainbow," everyone falling silent to appreciate this special moment.
The show was certainly a night to remember. Beacon is out everywhere now.
