West Palm Beach's iThink Financial Amphitheater became ground zero for a metal meltdown last weekend. Korn, Gojira, and Spiritbox unleashed a sonic assault that left hearts pounding. The humid Florida air crackled with anticipation as a sold-out crowd gathered to witness this trinity of heavy music. Spiritbox kicked off the evening with a set that proved why they're the talk of the metal world. Frontwoman Courtney LaPlante's vocal gymnastics were nothing short of jaw-dropping, effortlessly pivoting from banshee wails to angelic melodies.
The band's atmospheric sound provided a perfect appetizer for the crushing main courses to follow. Next up, Gojira brought their groove to the Sunshine State. Gojira's environmentally conscious lyrics and tribal rhythms whipped the crowd into a frenzy. Their set felt like a metal ritual, summoning circle pits and headbangers in equal measure.
But it was Korn who truly brought the house down. The nu-metal pioneers proved they're still delivering a setlist that can be equal parts nostalgia trip and endurance.
As the final notes of "Freak on a Leash" faded into the night, it was clear that metal is alive and well in 2024. This trifecta of talent showcased the genre's past, present, and future – all in one unforgettable evening.
