JD Danner knows how to rock a room, and that's exactly what she did on June 22 when she performed a full night of iconic women's seventies songs for a packed house at Arts Garage in Delray Beach. Danner's shows are consistently packed with powerful, well-curated songs, solid vocals and guitar riffs, and plenty of off-the-cuff surprises. And I have proudly had a front-row seat to these performances all my life. She also happens to be my aunt.

This show featured some of Danner's most beloved seventies songs, such as "I Feel The Earth Move" by Carole King.

One of the night's highlights was the duet Danner performed with her keyboardist Eddie Huerta. The did a stellar job making Chris Norman and Suzi Quatro's 1978 single their own. These two possess great chemistry on stage, and Huerta has contributed to Danner's original music.

For this performance at Arts Garage, Danner was joined by the extremely talented guitarist Scott Sherman, who performs in Big Rock Band and many other bands locally, brilliant bassist Steve Argy who recorded and toured with K.C. And The Sunshine Band and other legendary acts.

John Zack added unique riffs to the unit on lead guitar and Stephen Cocola of the long-running band The Echomen and a Neil Diamond tribute band "Diamond Is Forever" shined on drums.

"Playing to a sold-out crowd is always an indescribable experience," Danner said. "The energy in the room was uplifting and that made our job easier to achieve a show that was a magical journey back to the seventies. I always enjoy playing at the Arts Garage because it's a venue unlike any other. From the artists' posters to line windows with to the amazing sound and lights, I feel like a rock star every time I perform there!"

Two fun surprises during this show included a drum solo by Danner and the request by longtime Arts Garage benefactor Ronnie Dunayer to come on stage to play the tambourine for "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

I was honored to join the band on stage for a couple of songs myself, including "When Will I Be Loved" by Linda Ronstadt and "Fernando," my favorite ABBA song.
