Rocker Graham Nash hit the stage at The Parker Nov. 6, 2023, with his band as they opened with the song "Marrakesh Express," the tune about the hippie trail in Morocco. The second song up was "Military Madness," where he made references to Vladimir Putin, and had the audience chanting "No more war."

Nash is 81 years old now and has much to be proud of over his 60-year career. In the 1960s, the British-born Nash shot to fame with The Hollies and during a fateful visit to Laurel Canyon, he eventually met singers David Crosby and Stephen Stills at Joni Mitchell’s house. The rest is rock and roll history.

“When David and Stephen and I sang together in Joni’s living room, that sound we created was born in 45 seconds,” Nash told PBS.

During the first set, he played several CSNY songs, such as "Immigration Man," "Wasted on the Way," "Marguerita," and closed the first set with the Stephen Stills' cover "Love The One You’re With." The crowd appeared to be delighted.

He opened the second set with the Joni Mitchell cover "A Case of You." It was during the song "Wounded Bird" that he referenced ex-bandmate, David Crosby, and said, "Although we had differences, we always seemed to get along musically." The second set also consisted of mostly Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young songs such as "Find The Cost of Freedom," "Southbound Train," "Cathedral," "Just A Song Before I Go," and when he got to "Our House," he referenced how this song was written with a Joni Mitchell influence.

Joni and Graham went shopping one day and they bought a vase and flowers, and when they went home, he wrote the lyrics "I’ll light the fire. You place the flowers in the vase." He finally closed with "Teach Your Children," with everybody in the crowd singing along. Graham Nash and his band were great with solid vocals that night and the harmonies were beautiful. His tour continues across America this fall and into 2024. Catch him in a city near you.
