By Joanie Cox-Henry

Renowned singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier, who has artfully navigated the musical landscape for the past 25 years, once again employs her craft to explore the uncharted territory of recent years. A testament to her ability to capture the present moment in her songwriting, Gauthier's latest work, Dark Enough to See the Stars, emerges as a beacon of new love amid the dark storms of pandemic loss. This powerful album features ten brilliant compositions that showcase Gauthier's songwriting prowess, delving into themes of both love and loss.

Following her impactful collaboration with wounded Iraq war veterans in the 2018 album Rifles & Rosary Beads, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album and an Americana Music Association Album of the Year nomination, Gauthier continues to offer a profound antidote to trauma in her eleventh release. In 2021, she expanded her creative reach with the publication of her first book, Saved by a Song: The Art and Healing Power of Songwriting, receiving acclaim for shedding light on the transformative nature of songwriting. Praised by fellow artists like Brandi Carlile for capturing the tender aspects of humanity, Mary Gauthier's voice remains an essential and timely presence in the current landscape. The Associated Press has hailed her as "one of the best songwriters of her generation."
