Erin Lee Shares Her Top 5 Tracks of 2024

By Erin Lee

1. twenty one pilots- "Overcompensate"

Released in February, this track launched the Clancy era strong! Clikkkes were immediately gripped by this song, diving deep into the new lore while also connecting the dots with callbacks to Trench in the lyrics. Clancy would go on to become my most listened to album of the year.

2. Barns Courtney- "Heartbreak Hallelujah"

By summer, I was completely engrossed in Barns Courtney's Supernatural album.

His sultry vocals and classic rock n' roll sound captured a vibe you can't help but immerse yourself in, like sitting in the back corner of a dimly lit bar nursing your glass of whiskey on the rocks.

3. Robert DeLong- "SLOWLY"

Robert DeLong's album Playlist of Doom was heavy on repeat for most of Fall for me. Lyrically clever and honest, insanely versatile and musically innovative, DeLong is a force to be reckoned with and doesn't get talked about nearly enough. "SLOWLY" weaves the tale of a relationship breaking down, with the main character accepting their fate and owning up to their mistakes.

4. State Champs- "Too Late to Say"

State Champs released three songs in September in anticipation of their self titled album. I spent a lot of time with all three songs, even recommending "Silver Cloud" as a New Music Monday pick. But ultimately the storytelling and musicality of "Too Late to Say" made it the track I came back to again and again.

5. 311- "You're Gonna Get It"

Still a powerhouse band after more than three decades together, 311 really grabbed me with this track. Full Bloom has become my favorite 311 album in recent memory, with standout tracks like "Mountain Top" and "Persimmon." But "You're Gonna Get It" comes at you hard and fast, like a freight train of groove and funk. Nick Hexum and S.A. Martinez still have that winning combination of vocal tradeoffs.

That's my top 5 for 2024. I can't wait to see what 2025 brings for new releases, and I'm looking forward to sharing more picks with you every week!
