I'm a New York-born girl with a hankering for Southern sweets, and Dolly Parton's new collaboration with Krispy Kreme doesn't disappoint! My youngest son, Patrick, is obsessed with doughnuts, so I occasionally reward him after school with a rendezvous through Krispy Kreme's drive-thru. Well, you can imagine how 'Dollighted' I was to see the fabulous Dolly Parton currently has her own gorgeous collection of doughnuts at Krispy Kreme.
The Dolly Dazzler Doughnut – is an Original Glazed Doughnut dipped in strawberry icing, with gold, pink, and white glitter sprinkles, and a signature chocolate Dolly butterfly piece. It's pretty in pink and shining like Dolly does on stage!
The Peachy Keen Cobbler Doughnut is an unglazed doughnut filled with real peach filling, dipped in brown sugar icing, and topped with crunchy cobbler. It's like a peach cobbler pleasantly pushed inside a doughnut!
Banana Puddin’ Pie is an unglazed doughnut filled with banana pudding made with wafers and banana pudding Kreme, dipped in yellow icing, with white icing swirls and a wafer cookie. The creme has a lovely whipped banana taste and is very reminiscent of Nilla Wafer banana pudding! I will admit I took a bite of this banana delight and it was 30 seconds of heavenly, creamy bliss that I enjoyed so much, I had to go back for a second bite.
Chocolate Crème Pie is an Original Glazed doughnut topped with a swirl of chocolate brownie cream and vanilla whipped topping sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumble. I didn't actually sample this flavor but my son Jack said it was "chocolately good fun!"
So what inspired the adorable Dolly Parton to partner with Krispy Kreme? The answer is short and sweet!
"Having some of my very favorite southern flavors in one, unique doughnut collection from Krispy Kreme is so special to me,” Parton said in a press release. "These doughnuts remind me of home. So, I'm excited for folks to share them with their own family and friends."
To help celebrate the introduction of the Dolly Southern Sweets Doughnut Collection, Krispy Kreme is inviting everyone to get “Dolly’d Up” and visit shops on Saturday, May 18. Anyone “Dolly’d Up,” – from being totally Dolly decked out to wearing a Dolly Parton wig or their favorite Dolly merch – will receive a free Original Glazed® Doughnut. Fans not Dolly’d Up can receive a free Original Glazed Doughnut by singing a favorite Dolly song.
I am now tempted to alter the lyrics to "Islands In The Stream" to "I'm At Krispy Kreme!"
This is also not Ms. Dolly Parton's first time at the dessert rodeo! The sweet-as-pie superstar also collaborated with Duncan Hines and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
