At 87, Buddy Guy isn't just saying goodbye – he's scorching the earth. On his "Damn Right Farewell Tour," the Chicago blues titan proves he's still the master of slashing six-string rich and delivering raw emotional voltage.
The setlist for this tour spans Guy's storied career, from Chess Records classics to cuts from his Grammy-winning recent work. It's a humbling notion that Guy first picked up a guitar in the 1940s. His first guitar was a second hand model with only two strings on it. "I played it until my fingers got sore," Guy said in a video inteview with Reverb. "Every time I would get in the house, my mother and dad would say, 'Get him out of here with that noise, man.' Because I sounded like a bunch of bees because I didn't know how to tune it or nothing, but I loved what I was listening to."
Thankfully, Buddy Guy continued to pick his guitar up over and over again after that day. Visit buddyguy.net for the latest on his tour!
