Blink-182 Rocks Miami: A Night of Nostalgia, Antics, and Unforgettable Hits

Kings of pop punk Blink-182 brought their show to the Kaseya Center in Miami last night! Kicking off the set with "Feeling This" and "Rock Show" from 2003 and 2001, respectively; the crowd got on their feet, immediately receptive to these well known hits.

Several songs in I found myself yelling "Holy shit!" when lead singer and bassist Mark Hoppus got on the mic and casually remarked: "Here's one we haven't played in awhile" before launching into "Easy Target" from their self-titled album: the first time performing the song together in a decade.

The band is known for their juvenile antics and last night was no exception. The banter between Hoppus and guitarist Tom DeLonge included the usual masturbation and "your mom" jokes we've grown to find so endearing.

Additionally, Mark ruminated on how much better-looking Miamians are than the rest of the state as the audience cheered their approval.

Throughout the evening, we were reminded by Hoppus the tour is a celebration of the band's past and present.

The setlist reflected this sentiment as we were treated to early tracks like "Carousel," the first song Mark and Tom ever wrote together.

Further into the setlist, Mark and Tom took turns singing snippets of songs from their side projects, +44 and Box Car Racer, rounding out that portion of the show with drummer Travis Barker singing and playing "FUCK FACE" from their newest album ONE MORE TIME

Speaking of Travis Barker: I would be remiss to go without mentioning what an absolute beast he is behind the kit.

Clichés like "heartbeat of the band" actually fit nicely here, as Barker is always situated center stage and featured prominently in elevated risers. An in-demand player in the industry, Travis is never one to kick back or be complacent.

blink-182 rounded out out the set with perennial favorites "All The Small Things" and the ubiquitous "Dammit" before reaching the encore.

The band finished the night with ONE MORE TIME, a poignant look into their friendship and dynamics. An endearing song about the history of blink, ONE MORE TIME was the perfect way to end the evening.

The house lights came up and bows were taken, but the real treat was Mark Hoppus doing an impromptu dance and conga line walking off stage to "Conga" by Miami's own Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Seeing blink-182 live is always a wonderful time, and last night's show was no different.
