The Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 17 became a temple of jazz fusion last night as guitar legend Al Di Meola took the stage for his "Land of the Midnight Sun" 50th anniversary tour. The sold-out performance demonstrated why Di Meola remains one of the most respected figures in instrumental music, delivering a show that opened with the electrifying "The Wizard," and showcased Di Meola's signature lightning-fast fingerwork. The second set revealed Di Meola's versatility as he shifted to acoustic guitar, offering intimate renditions of his compositions, including an enchanting "Mediterranean Sundance."
