South Florida-based Spektora is an exhilarating rock cover band with an addictive setlist of '80s, '90s, and millennium hits. This fierce four-piece act features Dane Lyons on lead vocals, Fernando Santomaggio on lead guitar and backing vocals, Scotty Rippons on bass, and David Nordstrom on drums. These guys bring the party wherever they go.

Covering an impressive spectrum of material such as Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love,” Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like The Wolf,” “Take On Me" by A-ha, “Hey Jealousy” by Gin Blossoms 311’s “Amber” and dozens of other songs, this band is a full-sensory treat. They play a variety of venues from Delray Beach to Fort Lauderdale to Stuart and they're consistently adding new show dates throughout the year. Offering a fantasy playlist come to life, their high-energy performances leave onlookers thirsty for another encore even after the encore ends.

This band rocked the rooftop June 3 at McSorley's Beach Pub under a rainbow and eventually the glow of the Strawberry moon. Here are 5 reasons you need to check out Spektora.

Strong vocals.

Dane Lyons attacks a wickedly diverse catalog of songs with finesse and an expressive stage presence. Lyons roars on song after song belting out "Hard To Handle," by The Black Crowes, AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Shine" by Collective Soul, and "Lovesong" by The Cure. His rendition of U2's "Beautiful Day" is one of the most compelling I've seen done live. His cover of "Let's Dance" by David Bowie is a cosmic triumph.

They're insanely fun to watch. Seeing David Nordstrom knock out the hypnotic drumbeat on "Seven Nation Army" and watching bassist Scotty Rippons spin around while meticulously thumping out bass beats on Jimmy Eat World's anthem "The Middle" is priceless. Guitarist Fernando Santomaggio shreds with passion, precision, and a next-level musicality while slinging on a myriad of different axes to complement each song. Santomaggio's virtuosic slide work on Beck's 1994 hit "Loser" is also an undeniable winner.

They rock Hurricane Bar & Lounge in Delray Beach like a hurricane.

Spektora is a crowd favorite at The Hurricane, which is a legendary local Philadelphia Eagles fans' hub. Spektora illuminates this laidback watering hole with an electric party vibe. The dance floor feels more like a club when Spektora is on stage and the crowd is abuzz with everyone from college students to Delray’s 40-something jet setters to tourists who come in looking for something solid to dance to or just soak in a set while sitting around the bar.

It's good for you! Did you know that experiencing live musical performances has physical and mental health benefits? Harvard reports that music boosts our mood and well-being, and music therapy may help during treatments for certain health conditions. Research has also found that live music is beneficial for the brain and can increase the production of the feel-good chemical dopamine. Live also helps reduce stress and provides a sense of social connection which in 2023 is more important than ever before.

Supporting local music matters.

The members of this band always make a point to thank the audience for coming which is a clutch move. They appreciate their fans and look forward to seeing a sea of familiar and friendly faces at their shows. The band also has a strong social media presence and they keep Spektorarocks.com updated so Spektora's audience can stay connected with future shows and news on the band.

They’re not afraid to regularly add new material.

I have seen this band perform multiple times and each time, they resurrect crowd favorites and consistently add new songs. You might see them play tunes by The Cure, The Ramones, and Bon Jovi for one show, and the next, you'll see them covering Aerosmith, Queen, The Doors, and Green Day.

They offer something for everyone.

It’s rare to see a rock cover band who can play Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places" and then segue to Foo Fighters but this band does it without a hitch. Spektora's members mesh together well and each performance is as unique as the band members themselves. Spektora is more than a band. It's a whole vibe. If you haven’t seen Spektora perform yet, grab your friends and go. But I should warn you, you'll likely have a hard time staying in your seat. So get up and dance because Spektora is 'spektacular!'
